Career progression in public administration? Study the MPA

The MPA degree is suitable for candidates who work or want to work in public administration. What can this degree offer them?

What is an MPA degree

The acronym MPA stands for Master of Public Administration. It is a type of professional degree. It is designed as a postgraduate degree and is conditional upon successful completion of a bachelor's degree.

This study is intended mainly for managers in the field of public administration and non-governmental non-profit organisations, as well as for directors and managers of contributory organisations and organisational units such as hospitals, cultural institutions, schools, etc., for members of regional and municipal governments and for politicians.

Education completed with the MPA degree is especially complemented by heads of office and officials who aspire to further career advancement. This degree programme can also be recommended for students who seek personal growth in addition to professional growth.

Candidates are offered specialised legal, professional and managerial services focused on the basic issues of public and state administration and local government.

In terms of focus, issues such as public and administrative law, the EU legal framework, as well as control and financial management, project and risk management, and grant management are discussed. The aim is to offer students an up-to-date overview and to draw their attention to current reforms and digitalisation.

In practice, the degree is comparable to an MBA with the only difference being that it is designed for the public rather than the private sector.

Candidates who are interested in obtaining a degree can currently study completely on-line, thus combining their studies with employment. At the European Training Academy there is the possibility to use an individual study plan.
